Stand Up - Episode 8
Picking up from the previous episode, Gip and Miki continue their journey through Barranca del Cobre in search of the Tarahumara shaman. Along the way, they encounter the Tarahumara people, drawing inevitable comparisons between our civilization and their simple, austere way of life. Gip and Miki, in their distinctive style, navigate this contrast, but the gentle blade of realization penetrates.
After hours of travel by ATV and on foot, and creating a calendar amid the stunning waterfalls of Barranca del Cobre, Gip and Miki finally reach the shaman, leading to a truly special moment. Returning to their motorhome via the Chepe (the Chihuahua Express), they continue their journey to Puerto Escondido, a town made famous by the eponymous film by Gabriele Salvatores. Due to the film, Puerto Escondido has been colonized by streams of Italians seeking the utopia depicted in the movie. Alongside those who have relocated, Gip and Miki provide a sharp and insightful perspective.
During these interviews, Claudio, a Verona merchant who had abandoned everything to relocate 20 years prior and was later murdered by his Mexican wife a year after this interview, makes his final appearance. After Puerto Escondido, it's off to Acapulco, another famous Mexican tourist destination known for its "Clavadisti" – professional cliff divers who plunge from a towering cliff into a narrow, three-meter deep gorge. In a surprising twist, Gip and Miki secure an exclusive interview with Acapulco's most renowned divers.
